Welcome
I am a New York City-based theatrical technician with two decades of experience making creative ambitions possible. With a deep understanding of engineering, carpentry, and the most up-to-date theatrical technology, I partner with designers, creative teams, scene shops and crews to bring stories into physical space. I currently serve as the Technical Director at Off-Broadway's highly regarded New York Theater Workshop.
From custom fabrication to suspending a hovercraft over a midtown Manhattan flagship store to overseeing three theaters and two rehearsal studios in the 75,000 square-foot Pershing Square Signature Center, I bring a strong attention to detail and disciplined work ethic to every project. This site includes both my professional theatrical work as well as personal projects. I invite you to explore and be in touch to collaborate. |
About MeOriginally from west Tennessee, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre Production with a minor in Engineering Technologies from Austin Peay State University.
During college, I had the opportunity to work at several summer stock companies, including the renowned Williamstown Theatre Festival. Shortly after graduation, I accepted the position of Technical Director for the College of Charleston's Theatre Department in Charleston, SC. I taught Stagecraft Lab, oversaw eight productions per season, and served as a House Steward for the Spoleto Festival USA. I moved to New York City in 2007, and have since worked in over a dozen venues -- including The Juilliard School and the Park Avenue Armory -- as a carpenter, rigger, draftsman, and technical director. I also led design and fabrication of rigging hardware in the iWeiss Theatrical Solutions steel shop. I served for eight seasons as the Technical Director for the Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre. There I played a crucial role in establishing protocols to open the Pershing Square Signature Center and led scenic elements for 57 productions on three stages. Since Summer 2019, I have been the Technical Director at New York Theater Workshop where we were awarded the 2022 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Scenic Design for On Sugarland (designer: Adam Rigg). When I am not in a theater, I enjoy fine woodworking, tinkering with my motorcycle, and a good bourbon. |
